INSTRUCTIONS

Make Dough:

  1. Mix warm water, yeast, and sugar in large bowl
  2. Let sit 5-10 minutes until foamy
  3. Add 2 cups flour, olive oil, and salt
  4. Mix with wooden spoon until combined
  5. Gradually add remaining flour ½ cup at a time
  6. Turn onto floured surface and knead 8-10 minutes
  7. Dough should be smooth and elastic
  8. Place in oiled bowl, cover with towel
  9. Let rise in warm place 1-2 hours until doubled

Make Sauce:

  1. Heat olive oil in saucepan over medium heat
  2. Add minced garlic, cook 1 minute
  3. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, pepper
  4. Simmer 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally
  5. Let cool while dough rises

Prepare for Baking:

  1. Preheat oven to 475°F (place pizza stone if using)
  2. Punch down risen dough
  3. Divide into 2 balls for two 12-inch pizzas
  4. Let rest 10 minutes

Shape & Top:

  1. Roll or stretch dough into 12-inch circle on floured surface
  2. Transfer to pizza pan or parchment paper
  3. Spread thin layer of sauce (don’t over-sauce)
  4. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly
  5. Add desired toppings (don’t overload)
  6. Drizzle with olive oil
  7. Sprinkle parmesan on top

Bake:

  1. Bake 12-15 minutes until crust is golden
  2. Cheese should be melted and bubbling
  3. Edges should be crispy and brown
  4. For crispier bottom, bake on lowest oven rack

Serve:

  1. Remove from oven
  2. Let cool 2-3 minutes
  3. Top with fresh basil leaves
